God’s plan from the very beginning has always been to fill the earth with His glory through people who reflect His character (Genesis 1:26-28). His plan of redeeming this world from sin includes blessing all nations of the earth (Genesis 12:2-3). Therefore, it was not enough for Jesus to die on the cross for one particular group of people, but for all the nations so that God’s salvation would extend to the ends of the earth (Isaiah 49:6). That’s why Jesus commanded that His followers make disciples of all nations (Matthew 18:18-20). And the picture of the great assembly of God’s people in the new world is one that reflects God’s plan to save people from every nation, tribe, people, and language for His glory (Revelation 7:8-10)
We are compelled by this vision at Central Baptist Church. We want to be used by God to fulfill His plan to gather people to Himself through the gospel of Christ from all the nations of world. Therefore, we want to introduce internationals to Jesus and the gospel message through opportunities like ESL classes, meals and fellowships, and Bible Study.
We also desire to see God’s saving grace reflected in our own gatherings through a diverse body of people that God has saved. We desire a diverse gathering of cultures and ethnicities, because we believe that our unity in the Spirit through our common faith in Jesus shows off the power of the gospel (Ephesians 2:11-22). A unified body of believers like this puts on display God’s wisdom in the Gospel (Ephesians 3:10). Therefore, it is both our vision and heart as a church to live together as one new family in Christ with our brothers and sisters that come to us from around the world. A loving community like this is a rich and meaningful way to experience God’s grace and a powerful way to display it. This is what we strive for with our ministry to internationals as a church.
